Turning Point
He is the evidence
Frank Meeink knows how to recruit. He spent years doing it for the wrong side, pulling people into darkness with nothing but his words, his conviction, and an uncanny ability to find what a person needed to hear. If he could make a nerd into a Nazi, he can make a hater into a lover. He is living proof.
What Frank has spent a lifetime honing is the ability to meet people exactly where they are. He does not judge. He finds the throughline between his own struggle and yours, and suddenly you are not alone and the way through does not seem so impossible.
That is not a technique. It is hard won wisdom, forged in the worst rooms imaginable and refined through years of sitting with people the world has written off. Frank currently works as a peer support specialist and drug and alcohol counselor, doing exactly this work every day.
He understands addiction, radicalization, and human desperation not as abstractions but as lived realities. He knows what it takes to reach someone who does not want to be reached, and he knows that the only way in is through honesty, humor, and the willingness to say: I have been there too.
Some people talk about the light at the end of the tunnel. Frank has been in that tunnel.
He knows how long it is, how dark it gets, and exactly where the light begins. He goes back in, every single day, to hold that light up for someone else.
